Your First Pregnancy in Pune — Everything Nobody Actually Tells You (But We Will)

Congratulations! You just found out you’re pregnant. First of all — this is huge. Take a moment. Breathe. And then, naturally, the questions start flooding in. Am I eating right? When do I go to the doctor? What tests do I need? Will I feel this nauseous forever?

If you’re staying in Mhalunge, Baner, Sus, Pashan, or anywhere near the Hinjawadi–Baner corridor, I want to share some simple, practical things that will actually help you in the first trimester — written in the most non-doctor way possible.

First Things First — Book Your First Appointment Early

A lot of people think they can wait 2–3 months before seeing a gynaecologist. Please don’t. Ideally, you should visit within the first 6–8 weeks of your missed period. Early scans help confirm the pregnancy is healthy, check for any complications, and start you on necessary supplements like folic acid. It literally takes one appointment to set yourself up right.

Nausea Is Normal, But There’s a Limit

Morning sickness is practically a rite of passage for pregnant women. Most people experience it between weeks 6 and 12. Ginger tea, small and frequent meals, staying hydrated — these all help. But if you’re vomiting 4–5 times a day and can’t keep water down, that’s a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum and it needs medical attention. Please don’t try to manage it alone at home.

Know Your “Red Flags” During Pregnancy

    • Heavy bleeding or spotting at any time
    • Severe stomach pain or cramps that don’t stop
    • Baby not moving after 28 weeks (less than 10 movements in 2 hours)
    • Sudden swelling in face, hands, or feet
    • Very high blood pressure with headache or blurred vision

These are situations where you call your doctor immediately, not wait for the next appointment slot.

High-Risk Pregnancy? Don’t Panic — Just Be Informed

If you have conditions like thyroid issues, diabetes, PCOS, or are above 35 years of age, your pregnancy might be categorised as high-risk. This doesn’t mean something will go wrong — it just means you need a little more attention and monitoring. At Lotus Clinic, Dr. Shraddha has specific experience in managing high-risk pregnancies and will guide you step by step.

NST Testing — What Is It and Why Does It Matter?

In the third trimester, your doctor might recommend a Non-Stress Test (NST). It is a simple, painless test that monitors your baby’s heart rate in response to their own movements. It tells us if the baby is getting enough oxygen and is doing well inside. Lotus Clinic has NST testing available on-site, which means you don’t have to run around to different labs.

We know how confusing and overwhelming pregnancy can feel, especially the first time. We also know that Pune traffic is real and you don’t want to travel far for every checkup. Lotus Multispeciality Clinic is conveniently located in Mhalunge — very close to the Mumbai–Bangalore Expressway — so whether you’re coming from Balewadi, Baner, or Hinjawadi, reaching us is genuinely easy.

You deserve to enjoy this chapter, not just survive it. We’re here to help you do exactly that. 💚

5 Signs Your Child Needs to See a Paediatrician Immediately (A Mhalunge Parent’s Guide)

Okay so I know this might sound dramatic, but hear me out. As a parent staying near Mhalunge or Baner, there must have been at least one night where your child was crying at 2 AM with a high fever and you had absolutely no idea what to do. Google toh tha, but Google aur panic ek saath bohot bura combination hai, right?

I have seen so many families from Arjun Nagar, Balewadi, and nearby VTP and Godrej societies who wait too long before visiting a doctor. Sometimes it is fine — kids recover fast. But sometimes, waiting can make things worse. So today I just want to talk about five signs that you should not ignore and should definitely visit a paediatrician soon.

    1. Fever That Just Won’t Go

A fever of 100–101°F for a day or two is usually the body fighting something. But if your child’s fever is above 103°F, or has been going on for more than 3 days, please do not just give Calpol and wait. High or prolonged fevers in children can point to serious infections, UTIs, or even dengue — especially in Pune’s monsoon season. Get them checked.

    2. Breathing That Looks Different

If your child is breathing faster than usual, their nostrils are flaring, or you can see their ribs moving in and out while they breathe, that is not normal. It could be a sign of pneumonia or bronchitis. This is an emergency — please call us or visit immediately.

    3. Rashes That Spread Fast

Not every rash is dangerous. Heat rashes are super common in Pune summers. But if a rash is spreading quickly, looks dark or bluish, or comes with a fever — do not delay. Certain viral rashes need immediate attention.

    4. Child Is Not Eating or Drinking Anything

Kids can be picky eaters, we all know that. But if your child hasn’t eaten or had water for more than 6–8 hours, especially with loose motions or vomiting, dehydration can happen fast. This is particularly serious in toddlers and babies under 2 years. Don’t wait for the next morning.

    5. Behaviour Seems Very Different

You know your child best. If they seem unusually sleepy, confused, not responding to you, or just “not themselves” for a long time — that gut feeling you have as a parent is usually right. Trust it and get a professional opinion.

At Lotus Multispeciality Clinic in Mhalunge, Dr. Shraddha Dubewar and her team are available for paediatric consultations from 10 AM to 1 PM daily for routine OPD, and by prior appointment in the afternoon. For emergencies, you can always call ahead so that the team is ready for your child by the time you reach.

Parenthood is already stressful enough. You shouldn’t have to guess when it comes to your child’s health. We’re right here in Mhalunge — close to Balewadi Stadium, just opposite Uttam Sweets. Come say hello. And more importantly, come whenever you feel something isn’t right with your little one.

Stay safe, stay aware, and remember — early attention saves a lot of worry later. 🌸
